Jarod Penniman, Baseball

Senior Jarod Penniman helped lead the Chapman University baseball team to an NCAA Division III Baseball Regional Championship in a series victory over Whitman College this past weekend. The captain hit .500 with four runs scored, two doubles and four RBI in five games. Penniman was clutch all weekend, laying down the walk-off sacrifice bunt in the bottom of the ninth inning of the final game of the Regional round.

The Henderson, Nev. native also played phenomenal defense all weekend, keeping Whitman off the bases. In the fifth and final game, Penniman leapt up to catch a hard-hit line drive to end the top of the ninth inning to bring the Panthers up to the plate. With a runner on second, the four-year starter bunted down the third base line. An error from the pitcher allowed the runner to score, sending Chapman onto the field in celebration and into the Super Regional round this upcoming weekend.
