Bio

A four-year starter and team captain at fullback, Bobert led the Panthers to the NCAA Division II Far West Regional as both a player (1979) and a coach (1985), earning Far West Coach of the Year honors in '85. The two-time All-CCAA honoree earned team MVP honors during his senior season in 1981 when Chapman posted a 13-2-4 overall record, capping a 50-19-12 (.691) mark in his four years as a student-athlete. He tallied two goals and six assists from the backfield over his final three seasons.

Bobert remained a part of the program after graduation, serving as an assistant coach on the Panthers' NAIA District 3 title-winning team in 1982 (16-5-5) and becoming co-head coach alongside Walt Bowman in '83. He took sole control of the program one year later and had the Panthers back in the NCAA Regionals in '85 with an 11-8-1 mark and was a finalist for National Coach of the Year honors that season. He led the Panthers for six seasons, earning a winning percentage of .508 (57-55-9) and coached fellow Chapman Hall of Famers Gregg Murphy '86 and Doug Neely '88, and the Panthers' all-time winningest head coach Eddie Carrillo '90.
