Bio

Known for both his offensive and defensive prowess, Cotwright eventually became one of the top collegiate players in the country for the Chapman cagers in the early 60s. A four-year letter winner and three-time team MVP, he led the Panthers to a 20-win season and a return to the West Regionals during his junior year in 1962-63 when he averaged over 18 points per game for the second consecutive year. As a sophomore he earned co-Welch Trophy honors with Gary Larson after the Panthers won 19 games. Cotwright set a Chapman record with seven blocked shots in a game against Pasadena Nazarene in '61 - a record that still remains.

During his senior year, Cotwright ranked in the top-30 in the nation in rebounding with 16.4 per game. He also set a career-high with 19.5 points per game and was drafted in the 10th round of the NBA draft (84th pick overall) by the San Francisco Warriors. He finished his career with 1,575 career points (fourth all-time), 1,175 rebounds (second all-time) and a school record 167 blocked shots in just 78 games and was later named to Don Perkins' All-Time Chapman team.
