Bio
Howell inked his name in the Chapman record books 10 different times during his two-year track and field career with the Panthers. He was named to the 1969 All-America team in two events, placing third in the 220-yards at the NCAA national championships in Ashland, Ohio and as a member of the Panthers' 440-yard relay team which finished sixth. Howell's school records included: 100 meters and yards (tying Bob Maimbourg's original record of 9.8 seconds), 400 meters, 440 yards and 1600 meters. He was also part of the 440-yard relay, the 400-meter relay, the mile relay and the sprint medley for Chapman in '69 which all set records. Additionally, his 60-yard time of 6.5 at the Los Angeles Sports Arena in '69 set a Chapman indoor record.
