Bio

Ristig played three seasons, leading the Panthers to the NCAA College Division national championship in 1968 and earning All-Regional Tournament honors at the West Regionals in 1970. After his junior year, the second baseman was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 10th round of the Major League draft.

Ristig played four years in the Dodgers organization before returning to Chapman to spend five years as a coach, three as head coach for the Panthers baseball program. He was named District Coach of the Year after the Panthers went 40-23 in his first season as head coach and advanced to the NCAA Regionals. During his tenure at Chapman he mentored future Major Leaguers Tim Flannery, Marty Castillo and Jay Pettibone.
