Bio

Not only was Rivera a four-year letter winner, but he started at guard all four years, including throughout Chapman's deep run in the 1960 national championship tournament where the Panthers placed second. Rivera provided much of the team's leadership and heart throughout four NCAA Regional appearances and two NCAA Nationals appearances.

Rivera earned the Welch Trophy as Chapman's most valuable player as a senior in 1961 when the Panthers placed third at Regionals. He was also named to the All-Tournament team as a freshman when the Panthers won the Regional and advanced to the Elite Eight. Rivera set career records at Chapman for assists and steals over his four seasons at Chapman.
