Bio

A four-year letter winner for the Cardinal and Gray from 1934-38, Sherman was probably Chapman's first 1,000 point scorer before such records were kept with much consistency. Sherman scored 299 points during the 1935-36 season to lead the Panthers and then netted a team-high 332 points the following year. He scored as many as 25 points in a game against La Verne back with the team's average was just under 50 points per game.

Sherman helped Chapman to a great deal of success on the court during the 'hey day' of Coach Ralph Welch's leadership. Sherman's Panthers won 89 games and lost just 12 over four years, playing in the Southern California Basketball Association - Class AAA (highest rated division). Chapman won the Southern California championship in 1936.
