Bio

Smith helped the Panthers reach the NCAA West Regional basketball tournament during his senior season when Chapman posted 16 wins. Upon graduation in 1957, no other player in Chapman history had scored more career points than Smith (1,195) - a mark that was short-lived as teammate Bob Hamblin broke the record a year later. During the 1953-54 season, Smith set another Chapman record by averaging 17.5 points per game. He captained the Panthers twice under legendary head coach Don Perkins, leading the team to a four-year total of 43 wins, including a 17-7 record during the 1955-56 season.

A four-year member of the Chapman baseball team, the first baseman helped the Panthers to a 14-7-1 during the 1956 campaign.
