Bio

Thurman set a school record in 1977-78 when he averaged 23 points per game over 29 games - a record that still stands today. He is also the only member of Chapman's 1,000-point club that played just two seasons for the Cardinal and Gray (from 1976-78), totaling 1,032 for his career. Thurman was a big reason why Chapman returned to the NCAA Regionals in 1978 for the first time in 15 years. The team captain earned co-Welch Trophy honors, sharing the team's most valuable player awrd and earning All-District VIII honors, as well.
