Calling all nominations for "150 Faces of Chapman"

ORANGE, Calif. – Fans of Chapman athletics past and present, time is running out to recognize your favorite Panthers in honor of Chapman University’s 150th Anniversary Celebration. As part of the birthday festivities, Chapman is asking for your nominations for its “150 Faces of Chapman,” a campaign to recognize 150 individuals whose talents, accomplishments, leadership and support have made a remarkable difference to the university and in the world.

Chapman’s proud athletics heritage has provided countless possibilities for nominations, dating back to the start of sports at Chapman in the 1920s. Who will represent athletics in the “150 Faces of Chapman” when it is announced on Homecoming & Family Weekend? Will it be:

  • Don Perkins – legendary basketball, track and baseball coach, as well as Director of Athletics
  • Emmett Ashford ’41 – the first African American umpire in Major League Baseball
  • Bob Hamblin ’59 – Chapman’s first All-America basketball player
  • Randy Jones ’72 – former Cy Young Award winner for the San Diego Padres
  • One or more members of Chapman’s three NCAA championship men’s tennis teams in the 1980s
  • Or one of Chapman’s more recent legends since moving to NCAA Division III in 1994…

Who, in your mind, has played a seminal role in making Chapman athletics such an extraordinary success? Who represents the face of the Panthers, either because of longevity on campus, because of academic, athletic or leadership contributions, or because of gifts of time, talent or treasure? Who deserves recognition and remembrance for helping to elevate Chapman athletics to extraordinary heights?

If you have someone you’d like to nominate as one of the “150 Faces of Chapman” visit the Chapman University website here and nominate them today: http://www.chapman.edu/150Faces/

Time is running out. The deadline for nominations is September 1.
