Hadzinsky, Rauh selected to Capital One Academic All-District team

ORANGE, Calif. – As the regular season wraps up for the Chapman University baseball team, accolades have already started to roll in. On Thursday, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced its Capital One Academic All-District VIII baseball team, and both senior IF Tyler Hadzinsky and sophomore P Brian Rauh were selected, earning first and second team, respectively.

Hadzinsky, a San Clemente, Calif. native has found time despite being a two-sport starter (soccer and baseball) to earn a 3.89 grade-point average while majoring in business administration. The senior second baseman is leading the Panthers in batting average (.353), stolen bases (9) and is third in RBI (23). This is Hadzinsky's third selection to the All-District baseball team and fifth Academic All-District selection overall including soccer.

This is the first selection for Rauh, a business administration major with a 3.57 GPA. Rauh, the reigning Division III Pitcher of the Year has continued his stellar play in 2011 as a sophomore. The Lake Forest, Calif. native has gone undefeated this year posting a 9-0 record and five complete games with a team-best 2.09 ERA. He has 116 strikeouts while only allowing 29 walks and opposing batters are batting a lowly .186 against him. Rauh is now 20-0 in just under two seasons in a Panther uniform.

The No. 14-ranked Panthers are 27-10 going into their three-game season finale against Redlands May 6-7. Having won four of its past five games, Chapman looks to bolster its candidacy for a playoff bid.

The Capital One Academic All-America program honors male and female student-athletes in 12 sports annually. To be eligible, students must be varsity starters or key reserves, maintain a grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.00 scale, and hold at least a sophomore standing. Chapman is a member of the District VIII College Division, which includes Division II, III, and NAIA schools throughout the Western United States.
