Chapman ace named to D3Baseball All-America team

ORANGE, Calif. – Chapman University ace RHP Brian Rauh has been named to the D3Baseball.com All-America first team for the second consecutive year. The sophomore was selected for the honor after posting a record of 11-0 and leading the nation with 132 strikeouts.

Rauh becomes the third Chapman pitcher since D3Baseball.com implemented the award in 2007 to be named to the All-America team multiple times. He is however the first Panther to be named to the first team twice.

There was no "sophomore jinx" for Rauh who somehow improved on his unprecedented rookie campaign. Besides going 11-0 and running his career winning streak to 22 games, the right-hander lowered his ERA to 1.71 in 2011, set a school record with 132 Ks and tossed seven complete games. Opponents have batted just .176 against him this season.

The sophomore was named Division III Independents Pitcher of the Year for the second year in a row, as well as the Capital One Academic All-District VIII team. He is currently riding a 22 1/3 scoreless inning streak into the NCAA Division III national championships which begin on Friday in Appleton, Wis.
