The new 'Tom Terrific': Tereschuk honored once again

ORANGE, Calif. – After guiding the Chapman University baseball team to a second place finish at the Division III finals in May, Panthers' head coach Tom Tereschuk has been named the 2011 Diamond/ABCA NCAA Division III West Region Coach of the Year. It is the seventh time in nine years Tereschuk has earned the award from the American Baseball Coaches Association.

In 2011, Tereschuk became the first baseball coach in Chapman history to eclipse the 300-win plateau – a milestone he achieved in just his ninth season at the helm of one of the top programs in all of Division III. He guided the Panthers to a 37-13 record and their seventh West Region crown since he took over the program in 2003.

Chapman entered the postseason as the No. 2 seed in the West Region playoffs and knocked off the defending regional champs Linfield College (Ore.) to return to the national championships in Appleton, Wis. The Panthers then advanced through the eight-team bracket to the national title game where they were defeated by Marietta College (Ohio).

At 319-103, Tereschuk is Chapman's all-time winningest baseball coach and his .756 winning percentage ranks in the top-10 winningest coaches in Division III history. Under his leadership, the Panthers have now placed first, second or third three times at the Division III finals including their national championship in 2003.
