Chapman sluggers named to ABCA All-Region squad

ORANGE, Calif. – More postseason accolades have been credited to Chapman University junior Tyler Cook who has been named to the 2015 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Division III All-West Region team. The infielder earned second team honors and was joined on the All-Region team by sophomore DH Forrest Wiederman who was named to the third team.

It's the second such honor for Cook, who also earned ABCA All-West Region Second Team last season. Cook batted .377 in 39 games for the Panthers and led the team with a .604 slugging percentage, 25 extra-base hits and 37 RBI. He also produced a .949 fielding percentage at the hot corner. Earlier this month Cook was named to the All-SCIAC First Team and the D3baseball.com All-West Region team.

Meanwhile, Wiederman was named to the All-Region team for the first time after clubbing a team-high five home runs and ranking second on the team with 11 doubles and a .541 slugging percentage. The sophomore batted .359 and collected 15 multi-hit games, including a four-hit game at Pomona-Pitzer on April 10.

Chapman's two ABCA selections marks the second consecutive year the Panthers have had multiple All-Region nods. Cook also becomes the first Panther non-pitcher to earn consecutive/multiple All-Region awards since Tyler Dean in 2006 and '07.
