Freshman Konnor Zickefoose hauled in some more hardware with another All-Region nod from the American Baseball Coaches Association. His selection to the Third Team is his second All-Region award following a stellar freshman season.

The Chapman University baseball team landed six players on the All-SCIAC teams and freshman Konnor Zickefoose was named the Newcomer of the Year, the conference announced on Wednesday. Sophomore Jared Love and sophomore Gavin Blodgett joined Zickefoose on the First Team while senior Matt Molnar and sophomore Conner Larkin earned Second Team honors.

Panthers finish fourth in SCIAC Postseason

The No. 3-seeded Chapman University baseball team relinquished an early lead and fell to No. 1-seeded Occidental College 5-2 on Saturday afternoon in round two of the SCIAC Baseball Postseason Tournament. The Panthers finished regular season third and SCIAC Postseason fourth.

The Chapman University baseball team fell 6-5 to Cal Lutheran University on Friday afternoon at Ullman Stadium in game one of the SCIAC Postseason Tournament. The Panthers led Cal Lutheran twice in the game, but ultimately fell short recording only six hits while giving up 16.

Chapman University Athletics celebrated another outstanding year with its annual Jog-a-thon at Wilson Field on Friday. The Panthers looked back on all the successes of the 2015-16 seasons and honored four seniors with the department’s annual awards.

Timely hitting earns CU doubleheader sweep

The Chapman University baseball team ended SCIAC round robin play with a doubleheader sweep over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and University of Redlands on Sunday afternoon at Hart Park. The Panthers shut out the Bulldogs 9-0 in game one, then slugged out a 10-8 victory over the Stags in game two.

Twinbill split secures berth in SCIAC Tournament

April 23, 2016

A doubleheader split with the La Verne clinched a spot in the SCIAC Tournament for the Chapman University baseball team. The Panthers fell 11-7 in the early game before ending Senior Day with a 10-3 win to clinch a postseason spot. Chapman is tied for third in the standings and will be seeded third in the SCIAC round robin coming up next week.

Eighth inning outburst leads to comeback win

Twelve batters came to the plate, seven runs came across and the Chapman University baseball team used the big inning to secure a 9-5 win over visiting Pomona-Pitzer on Friday. The Panthers (19-12, 13-6 SCIAC) climbed out of a 5-0 hole to get the key victory.

Senior Greg Dillon delivered a walk-off in the ninth inning of game one and the Chapman University baseball team split a doubleheader with Whittier College on Saturday at Hart Park. The Panthers secured a walk-off 4-3 win in game one before falling 5-4 in extra innings of game two.

Connor is a Television & Broadcast Journalism major who will graduate in the Spring. After graduation, he has decided to serve our country and has already been accepted into the Marine Corps Officer Candidates School in Quantico, Va.

Bullpen, long ball lead baseball to win over Redlands

Mason Collins and Matt Mogollon combined for eight-plus innings of a relief gem as the Chapman University baseball team rallied to defeat No. 23 Redlands 7-3 in the series-opener on Friday. Collins earned his first career win on the mound in his longest outing of the season.

Sophomore Gavin Blodgett led the Chapman offense on a tear last to earn SCIAC Male Athlete of the Week honors. Blodgett raised his batting average to .400 and is one of four Panthers hitting .400 or better this year.

Baseball shuts out Caltech to open series

Senior Matt Smith and freshman Mason Collins combined for a six-hit shutout of visiting Caltech in a 10-0 Panthers win on Friday. The Panthers used a four-run seventh to clinch the run-rule victory and win for the seventh time in the last nine games.

Sophomore Conner Larkin and senior Tim Alhanati hit three-run homers in the Chapman University baseball teams 14-3 win over visiting Stevens Institute on Tuesday afternoon at Hart Park.
