Zickefoose ends freshman campaign with All-Region honors

ORANGE, Calif. – Freshman Konnor Zickefoose capped a stellar freshman season with All-West Region third team honors from D3baseball.com. The honors come just after he was announced as the SCIAC's Newcomer of the Year.

Zickefoose, a third baseman from Chino Hills, Calif., was the only freshman field player to make any of the All-Region teams. He hit a team-best .423 and launched another team-best with seven homers. He was tied for the team lead with 38 RBIs.

He played in 41 of the Panthers' 42 games this year. His first hit came in just his third trip to the plate when he smacked a solo home run to right center in the Panthers' 4-3 win over East Texas Baptist. He had a four-hit game against Ithaca on Mar. 17 and was a homer short of the cycle. He had two games with at least four RBIs, including a two-homer game at La Verne.

His .423 batting average ranks as the second-highest single season average in Chapman history while his .723 slugging percentage ranks third. He has the third-highest batting average and second-highest slugging percentage of any freshman in Division III.
