Cosby scores on balk to give Panthers walk off over CUW

ORANGE, Calif. – Tied 3-3 in the ninth inning, the Chapman University baseball team scored on a balk to earn the walk off 4-3 victory over Concordia University Wisconsin on Friday night at Hart Park.

The Panthers held a lead 3-1 up until the ninth inning when the Falcons rallied to post two runs and tie the game 3-3. Chapman sophomore Christian Cosby, who reached second base on an error and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt, scored the Panthers' winning run on an illegal pitch to earn the 4-3 victory.

Chapman's first two runs came in the first inning with RBI doubles from junior Gavin Blodgett and senior Tyler Cook. Sophomore Justin Stream earned the third RBI of the inning with a single up the middle to give Chapman the 3-0 lead.

Sophomore Mason Collins improved to 3-0 on the mound for Chapman after tossing the last three innings and recording five strikeouts. Sophomore Joey Harmon was left with no decision after tossing six full innings and recording six strikeouts.

The Panthers return to Hart Park Saturday for their second game of the three game series with Concordia. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
