Gregersen sets new school record

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University baseball team took down Ithaca College 23-1 Wednesday afternoon. Freshman Kevin Gregersen set a new school record in RBIs in a single game, knocking in eight runs to capture the record.

Gregersen obtained his record-breaking RBIs off of four hits. The rookie went 4-for-5 on the afternoon, while also hitting the first home run of his career. The previous record of seven RBIs in a single game was accomplished twice in 1999.

Gregersen's home run was one of three for the Chapman squad. Freshman Mitchell Briggs slammed a home run to bring home two runners, and sophomore Christian Cosby also hit one out of the park.

The Panthers were also led by junior Jared Love, who went 3-for-3 in four innings. Briggs' only hit of the game was his home run, knocking in three runs to add to the Chapman lead. The Panther bench also saw some action, with seven substitutions and five different pitchers.

Chapman's hitters were unstoppable, with fourteen out of sixteen recording at least one hit. The Panthers brought in 23 runs on 25 hits. Chapman's pitching was also outstanding, only allowing one run off of eight hits.

Junior Brad Steiner was the winning pitcher, allowing two hits and striking out two batters in his two innings of play.

The Bombers' sole run was knocked in by sophomore Cam Fuoti.

The Panthers return home on Saturday March 25 to play Linfield in another non-conference game.
