Special ceremony held for baseball graduates

ORANGE, Calif. – The baseball season extended a few extra weeks into May after the Chapman University baseball team won the SCIAC Postseason Tournament and competed at the NCAA Division III West Regional in Spokane, Wash. With the postseason appearance, eight student-athletes missed their graduation ceremonies back on Chapman's campus.

"I want to thank all of our athletic administration especially Terry Boesel and Doug Aiken for helping facilitate the graduation of our eight seniors," said head coach Scott Laverty. "A special thank you to President Struppa for taking the time to officiate this ceremony. It was an amazing experience for all who got to attend and celebrate both the academic and athletic success of these fine young men."

The eight student-athletes who completed their respective degrees are Gavin Blodgett, Jonathan Hernandez, Joey Harmon, Conner Larkin, Andrew Mendonca, Matt Mogollon, Brad Steiner and Justin Stream.

Chapman University President Daniele Struppa graciously held a special ceremony for the eight baseball players and their families on the steps of Memorial Hall on Friday, May 18. Larry Newman was also in attendance to capture the moment. Check out some pictures from the special ceremony below.
