Love honored again as Academic All-American

ORANGE, Calif. – Senior Jared Love earned Academic All-America Third Team honors for the second year in a row from the College Sports Information Directors of America. Love joins an elite list of just seven Panthers to earn the award in back-to-back years.

The Panthers' first baseman missed the first month of the season but was immediately inserted back into the middle of the lineup upon his return from injury. Chapman won 12 of its next 13 games after his return from injury, including a 10-game win streak over the last half of March. With Love in the starting lineup, the Panthers went 22-5 to finish the regular season and win the SCIAC Postseason Tournament.

The Brea, Calif. native has been a leader at the plate, in the field and in the classroom for the Panthers. He is a career .333 hitter and all-time leader at Chapman with 22 home runs, posted a .994 career fielding percentage and owned a 3.85 GPA while finishing two degrees in physics and mathematics.

With Love's selection for the elite honor, the Panthers now boast 24 Academic All-America selections. Love is the seventh Panther to repeat the honor and the sixth baseball player honored. He joins Matt Barcellona (1998-99) as the only two Chapman baseball student-athletes to earn the repeat distinction.

Love helped lead the Panthers to their first SCIAC Tournament title in school history and a return to the NCAA postseason for the first time since 2011.
