Peck, Garcia earn All-America First Team honors

ORANGE, Calif. – Two members of the Chapman University baseball team earned D3baseball.com All-American honors earlier this morning. Senior starting pitcher Tyler Peck and sophomore reliever Nick Garcia both landed spots on the First Team All-America list.

Peck has been the Panthers' ace on the mound all season. The righty led the Panthers and currently leads the nation with 150 strikeouts this season, shattering Chapman's single-season record. He has helped the Panther pitching staff be one of the most dominant in the nation, posting a career-low 1.72 ERA in 104 and two-thirds innings pitched.

Peck allows opponents to hit just .213 when he steps up on the mound. The Corte Madera native leads the nation with 16 starts this season and has posted a career-best 7-3 record this year. Peck amassed double-digit strikeout games in half of his starts, including a career-high 16 strikeouts against George Fox. This is Peck's first career All-America honor after earning both All-SCIAC and All-Region honors earlier this season.

Garcia earned his first career All-America honor after putting up impressive numbers from the bullpen. The sophomore posted an impressive 0.56 ERA over 48 innings pitched. He earned a perfect 8-0 record while also amassing nine saves this season.

As the Panthers' go-to closer, the San Carlos native allowed just three earned runs while striking out 75 batters. Garcia allowed just 28 hits, forcing batters to hit a mere .163 when he was on the mound. The righty was clutch for the Panthers in the Super Regional round, securing the victory in game two to send Chapman to the 2019 College World Series.

The Panthers head to Cedar Rapids, Iowa to take on the double-elimination round of the World Series. First pitch against Washington & Jefferson is Friday, May 31 at 8 a.m. PT.
