National champs earn academic recognition

ORANGE, Calif. – While chasing and winning a national title, the Chapman University baseball team also held its own in classroom to earn national recognition. The Panthers earned the Team Academic Excellence Award from the American Baseball Coached Association for the third year in a row.

Chapman finished its season with a dogpile in Iowa after winning the 2019 NCAA Division III national championship. The Panthers also finished the banner year above a 3.0 team GPA to earn the academic recognition from the ABCA.

The award is Chapman's third in the last three years. The American Baseball Coaches Association's Team Academic Excellence Award honors high school and college programs coached by ABCA members that post a Grade Point Average over 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the current academic year.
