Fox named ABCA DIII Assistant Coach of the Year

ORANGE, Calif. – One more award came through for the Division III National Champions with the American Baseball Coaches Association selecting the Panthers' Geoff Fox as the NCAA Division III Assistant Coach of the Year. Fox celebrated his sixth and final season with the Panthers in 2019.

After helping lead Chapman to its third national title in program history, Fox became just the second recipient of the national award that is given to the top assistant at each level of college baseball. The ABCA expanded the award to all levels last year.

In Fox's six years at Chapman, the Panthers have gone 184-84 as well as winning the last two SCIAC Tournament titles. They enjoyed a banner season in 2019 as the top team in the SCIAC and the West Region before culminating in the national title.

With the success he helped build at Chapman, Fox was recently hired as the first Head Coach in program history at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Arizona. He will build the program over the next year before taking the field for the first time in 2021.

Head coach Scott Laverty, who also won National Coach of the Year honors from D3baseball.com and the ABCA, has hired back Cam McMullen to fill the vacancy in the coaching staff.
