All-American honors for pair of Panther pitchers

ORANGE, Calif. – A pair of starting pitchers were named to various All-American teams for Chapman University baseball. Wyatt Thompson landed the honors from both the American Baseball Coaches Association and D3baseball.com while Grant Manning earned the recognition from D3baseball.com.

Thompson was named a Second Team All-American by the ABCA and a Third Team All-American from D3baseball.com. Manning was named the D3baseball.com Fifth Team. Thompson became Chapman's 24th selection to an ABCA All-America Team while Manning and Thompson are the Panthers; 16th and 17th selections to the D3baseball.com All-America Teams.

The pair of right handed starters led the Chapman pitching staff all year, combining for 181 innings pitched and exactly 200 strikeouts. Thompson led the Panthers with a 2.18 ERA and a 9-1 record. Manning went 8-1 with 106.2 innings pitched and 118 strikeouts against just 27 walks with a 3.12 ERA.

With Thompson and Manning leading the way, the Chapman pitching staff ranked 18th in the nation in ERA as well as in the top-50 in hits allowed per nine innings, strikeouts per nine innings and WHIP.

The Panthers ended the season in the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship for the fourth season in a row with their second trip to the Super Regionals and an overall record of 35-14.
