Chapman (6-1) at Redlands (5-2)
Saturday, November 8, 2014
Ted Runner Stadium
7 p.m.

Game Notes:

• Chapman and Redlands face off for the second time in as many seasons with almost everything at stake. The SCIAC championship hangs in the balance as well as an automatic NCAA playoff berth. A victory would give the Panthers their first playoff berth in program history. A win for Redlands and they would still need to beat Oxy or a CU loss next week.

• The matchup features the two best offenses and defenses in the conference. The Panthers are averaging 40.9 ppg, while the Bulldogs score 34.9 ppg. On the defensive side of the ball, Chapman is only allowing 19.0 ppg, and Redlands is giving up only 20.6 ppg.

• Speaking of defense, senior LB Sam Layton had the best game of his career last week, racking up six tackles, including three quarterback sacks for 17 yards. Layton's three sacks were the most by a Panther since Marcos Molina recorded four sacks against Pacific Lutheran in 2006.

• Another week, another rise in the polls for the Panthers. Up three spots from last week, Chapman is ranked No. 21 in the D3football.com poll. The Panthers also cracked the top 25 in the AFCA coaches poll for the first time, as the Panthers rank No.24.

• Winners of six straight games, and seven consecutive on the road, the Panthers will take on a Bulldogs team that has traditionally had their number. Chapman has lost seven straight to and 14 of their last 15 matchups against the Bulldogs dating back to 1999.

• Junior RB Jeremiah McKibbins ranks 18th (tie) in Division III in rushing touchdowns. He has rushed for 11 scores and has done so in fewer games than all but two players ahead of him. He is also just four rushing TDs shy of tying Darnell Morgan for the school career mark of 26.

• Senior QB Michael Lahey needs just 75 passing yards to move into third place on CU's career passing list, currently with 3,572.
