The entire Chapman Athletics and Chapman University family was devastated to learn of the passing of recent graduate Dan Steele '15 last week. He was 22 years old.

Dan was a four-year member of the Chapman football team and a leader on the Panthers 2014 SCIAC Championship team. He was also a valued member of the Chapman News team before graduating last spring with a bachelor's in television and broadcast journalism. He was working for the NFL Network in Los Angeles.

The thoughts and prayers of the entire Chapman family are with Steele family during this difficult time. 

A Rosary will be held at Our Lady Queen of Angels (2046 Mar Vista Drive, Newport Beach) on Thursday November 19th, at 7:30 pm. This will be a vigil/wake with the option to view Dan and say your final goodbye. Friends and family will also have a chance to share your favorite story of Dan.

A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 20 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Angels. A reception will follow at the Phase 1 Clubhouse, 1854 Port Westbourne in Newport Beach. Since so many people have offered their support and help, we've chosen to make the reception a potluck lunch, where everyone has the option to contribute to the meal. We'd love if you could bring something to share.

A scholarship will be awarded in Dan's name at Chapman University. In lieu of flowers, anyone interested in making a donation toward the scholarship can make a check payable to the Chapman University Chapman Fund. Please mail all donations to:
