Five Panthers land on All-SCIAC teams

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University football team placed five seniors on All-SCIAC teams, the conference office announced on Monday. Jeremiah McKibbins, Sean Myers and Alex Rorie all earned a spot on the First Team while Hunter Peterson and Drew DeMarco earned Second Team honors.

McKibbins nearly rewrote the record book for Chapman in his four years at running back. The Panthers' all-time leading rusher and all-time leading scorer set an array of career, season and single game records this season. He had his second 1,000-yard season, rushing 1,085 yards overall and 1,023 in SCIAC games. The running back from Inglewood ranked third in the SCIAC with 135.6 yards per game but ranked 15th in the nation. His 19 rushing touchdowns this season tied for the most in the conference. His average of 14.3 points per game was tops in the SCIAC and ranked fourth in all of Division III. This is the third All-SCIAC first team selection of McKibbins' career.

Myers had a breakout year as a senior, compiling career bests in nearly every category. The wide receiver from Fountain Valley was the Panthers leading receiver with 48 catches for 716 yards and seven TDs. He set career-bests with 11 catches for 144 yards and two TDs against Claremont and found the end zone in six of the Panthers seven SCIAC games. His seven receiving touchdowns were tied for the most in the conference in SCIAC games while his 84.9 yards per game against conference opponents ranked third. This is the first All-SCIAC selection of Myers' career.

Rorie clogged up the middle for the Panthers this year. He led all Chapman defensive linemen with 24 tackles on the season and tied for the team lead with 3.5 tackles for loss. The nose tackle from San Jose had a season-high six tackles against La Verne and had five tackles, including a sack, against Occidental. In his two years at Chapman he totaled 37 tackles and 5.5 tackles for loss. This is second first team All-SCIAC selection of Rorie's career.

Peterson, an offensive lineman from Phoenix, Ariz., landed All-SCIAC honors for the second year in a row with his Second Team nod. He helped pave the way for and offense the averaged 417.9 yards and 49 points per game in SCIAC games. DeMarco, a defensive back from Portland, Ore., led the Panthers and ranked third in the SCIAC with three interceptions this season. He took the last of those three interceptions back for a touchdown against Whittier to cap the season. He also ranked second on the team with 47 tackles while also forcing a fumble and recovering two.
