Deeb selected to D3football All-Region First Team

ORANGE, Calif. –  After leading the SCIAC in punting all season in every category, rookie punter Elias Deeb was named to D3football.com All-West Region first team for the 2016 season. The punter finished the regular season ranked No. 13 in all of Division III in punting average and is the only freshman to be selected to the All-West Region Team.

Deeb was named to the All-West Region first team after being named to the All-SCIAC first team for his average of 42 yards. He becomes the fifth Chapman punter in school history to earn All-Region honors.

As a freshman, Deeb set a career-high and school record with a 72-yard punt against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. He also landed a punt inside the 20-yard line or recorded a touchback a combined 11 times.

The freshman's best game came against the Stags when he punted seven times for a total of 358 yards, averaging a season-best of 51.1 yards per punt.

Deeb was one of five SCIAC student athletes to earn All-West Region honors and was the only one to earn First Team honors.

The teams, selected in balloting by West Region sports information directors and D3football.com staff, were chosen from 260 nominations by Division III member schools. A total of 77 players were chosen. Players nominated for All-Region are eligible to be considered for D3football.com All-America honors, which will be announced the evening of Dec. 16, in D3football.com's pregame coverage for Stagg Bowl XLIV.
