Deeb recognized as All-American punter

ORANGE, Calif. –  An award-filled postseason continued for freshman punter Elias Deeb as he earned All-American Honorable Mention from D3football.com. Deeb previously earned All-Region and All-SCIAC First Team honors.

Deeb's 41.9 yard per punt average led the SCIAC and ranked 13th in all of Division III. He punted 33 times for a total of 1,387 yards. He landed 10 punts inside the 20-yard line with just one going for a touchback. Nine of his 33 punts resulted in a fair catch.

The Newport Beach, Calif., native launched six punts for 50-plus yards, including a pair that sailed over 60 yards. Both punts came at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps when he broke the Chapman record with a 72-yard punt. He booted his next punt 62 yards.

With Deeb taking the majority of the punting duties, opponents averaged just over seven yards per return. When Deeb punted, just 15 were returned for an average of 6.4 yards. The longest return against Deeb went for just 15 yards.

Deeb is Chapman's first football All-American since 2002. He is the third Chapman punter to earn All-American honors, joining Mario Acosta and Matt George. He was one of just two freshman included on D3football.com's All-American teams and was just one of two SCIAC players.
