SCIAC All-Academic
Record number of student-athletes achieve academic distinction

Chapman University student-athletes raised the bar with a record number of 220 SCIAC All-Academic selections for the 2017-18 school year. This year marks the first time in Chapman’s six-year history in the SCIAC that more than 200 Panthers were included on the All-Academic teams.

Three members of the Chapman University football team were named to the d3football.com All-West Region Third Team this Tuesday. Seniors Ricky Bautista and Jacob Isabel were selected for the offensive team, while fellow senior Austin Pyka was named to the defensive team.

The SCIAC Champions Chapman University football team made school history as the Panthers took home four of the five major awards and earned 12 All-SCIAC selections. Nine Panthers were selected to the First Team and three players earned Second Team honors.

Football suffers first round loss at UMHB

The Chapman University football team fell 50-6 to No. 1 Mary Hardin-Baylor in the first round of the NCAA Division III Football Championship. Senior Jacob Isabel became the new school record holder for receiving yards in a season in the loss.

Chapman won its second SCIAC title to advance into the NCAA Division III Football Championship. The Panthers travel to Belton, Texas to take on No. 1 Mary Hardin-Baylor in the first round of the national tournament.

The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor has announced that tickets for the first round matchup between Chapman and UMHB will go on sale on Thursday, Nov. 16. Chapman’s fans are encouraged to call the UMHB ticket office to reserve their tickets or purchase their tickets at the gate.

The Chapman University football is back in the NCAA Division III Football Championship for the second time in four years and will head to Belton, Texas to take on Mary Hardin-Baylor in the first round.

Freshman selected as SCIAC Athlete of the Week

Freshman Dillon Keefe was honored as the SCIAC Athlete of the Week for his dominating defensive performance against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps this weekend. The linebacker is the first defensive player to earn the award in the 2017 season. The Orange, Calif. native recorded nine tackles, including three tackles for a loss of 17 yards. He also tallied the only two sacks of the game for a loss of 12 yards in the 48-38 win over the Stags.

Football caps perfect SCIAC season with win over CMS

The Chapman University football team finished off a perfect SCIAC season with a 48-38 win over visiting Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. The Panthers (6-2, 6-0 SCIAC) completed their second undefeated conference season in school history with win and will head to the NCAA Division III Football Championship on a six-game win streak.

Football looks to claim outright SCIAC title against CMS

Chapman football closes out the 2017 regular season when it hosts Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday at 7 p.m. The Panthers’ final regular season game was cancelled when Occidental cancelled the remainder of its season.

Bautista named SCIAC Athlete of the Week for second time in three weeks

Senior Ricky Bautista proved to be the anchor in Chapman’s offense yet again, earning SCIAC Athlete of the Week honors for the second time in just three weeks. The Panthers took down Cal Lutheran 46-38 at Wilson Field this week and earned at least a share of the SCIAC Championship title with the victory.

The Chapman University football team clinched at least a share of the SCIAC Championship with a 46-38 win over Cal Lutheran (5-2, 3-2 SCIAC) on Saturday night. The Panthers (5-2, 5-0 SCIAC) remain undefeated in SCIAC play and are crowned the champions for the second time since entering the conference in 2012.

Title within reach when football hosts Cal Lutheran

Chapman can clinch at least a share of the SCIAC Championship with a win over Cal Lutheran on Saturday night. With a win, the Panthers would also clinch the SCIAC’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Football Championship, making them one of the first teams in the nation to punch their ticket.

Football rolls to fourth win a row

October 21, 2017

The offense continued to roll with big plays as the Chapman University football team took down La Verne 38-21 to win its fourth game in a row. Senior Ricky Bautista completed over 70 percent of his passes for the fourth week in a row and senior Joe Mudie had a career-best 166 yards on the ground.

Football takes three-game win streak on the road

October 20, 2017

Chapman puts it three-game win streak on the line as it returns to the road to face La Verne at 1 p.m. on Saturday. At 3-0 in the SCIAC, the Panthers sit alone in first place with four more teams right one their heels with one loss, including La Verne.

Senior Ricky Bautista was named to the d3football.com Team of the Week this week for his huge performance on Saturday, Oct. 14 against Redlands. The veteran quarterback led the Panthers to a 45-26 victory over the Bulldogs to push the squad into first place in the SCIAC.
