• Chapman puts it three-game win streak on the line as it returns to the road to face La Verne at 1 p.m. on Saturday. At 3-0 in the SCIAC, the Panthers sit alone in first place with four more teams right one their heels with one loss, including La Verne.

 

• QB Ricky Bautista has bought the best numbers of his career in the last three games. He is 57-of-77 for 916 yards and 10 touchdowns with no interceptions. He boasts a 216.81 passing efficiency rating over that stretch. He ranks ninth in the nation in completion percentage and seventh in the nation in passing efficiency over the first five games of the season. 

 

• RB Joe Mudie has also enjoyed the best stretch of his career over the Panthers' winning streak. He has carried the ball 53 times for 356 yards and a pair of TDs. He is averaging 6.7 yards per carry and 118.7 yards per game over the stretch and has not been tackled behind the line of scrimmage. 

 

• Bautista's favorite target this year has been Jacob Isabel, who is also on track to put up career number. He is just 200 yards and a touchdown shy of his season totals from a year ago. He ranks second in the SCIAC with 106.8 receiving yards per game and six receiving TDs.

 

• While the Panther offense has put up over-40 points in each of its three wins, the defense has stiffened up in allowing less than 30 in each of the last two games. Twice during the win streak, Chapman's defense has stepped up after a turnover. Fumbles against Pomona-Pitzer and Redlands set up the opposing offense deep in Panther territory. The defense responded by pushing the defense back with a sack on each drive. Both the Sagehens and Bulldogs missed the ensuing field goal.

 

• The road has been a setting for drama for Chapman this year. At Trinity, the Panthers dropped an overtime heartbreaker, 41-35. At Pomona-Pitzer, Mudie scored on the final play to lift the Panthers to a 42-40.
