Freshman selected as SCIAC Athlete of the Week

ORANGE, Calif. – Freshman Dillon Keefe was honored as the SCIAC Athlete of the Week for his dominating defensive performance against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps this weekend. The linebacker is the first defensive player to earn the award in the 2017 season. The Orange, Calif. native recorded nine tackles, including three tackles for a loss of 17 yards. He also tallied the only two sacks of the game for a loss of 12 yards in the 48-38 win over the Stags.

On top of his impressive tackling, the rookie also recovered a fumble by the Stags that gave the ball back to the Panthers. With the ball on their own 43-yard line, senior Ricky Bautista threw a 57-yard touchdown bomb that put fellow senior Jacob Isabel in the Chapman record books. In the midst of a breakout freshman season, Keefe ranks second on the team with 45 total tackles this season.
