Keefe earns second consecutive SCIAC award

ORANGE, Calif. – Junior Dillon Keefe helped the Chapman University football team topple No. 15 Redlands 21-18 this past Saturday, earning his second consecutive and third SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week.

Keefe notched a season-high 10 tackles, seven assisted and three solo, as the Panthers secured their fourth straight victory.

The linebacker was crucial in the final moments of the game to help Chapman hold on to the three-point victory. Keefe helped stop Redlands' final drive downfield as he tallied the Panthers' sole sack of the game on a Bulldogs' first and ten, forcing Redlands back seven yards. After gaining 13 yards back, Redlands had no choice but to go for it on fourth down. Keefe made a big stop with a solo tackle in the backfield, forcing the turnover on downs.

The victory helped propel the Panthers to No. 19 in the nation and stay undefeated. Chapman heads to Occidental on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 3 p.m. before returning home to Wilson Field to take on Cal Lutheran on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m.
