Chapman's win streak reaches 10

ORANGE, Calif. - Facing one-win La Sierra University, the Chapman University men's basketball team overcame a slow start and 37 percent shooting from the field as the Panthers won 73-52 on Thursday night at the Hutton Sports Center. Chapman has now won 10 in a row since dropping back-to-back games early in the season.

The scrappy Golden Eagles kept the game tight for the first eight minutes of the game.  It wasn't until a three-pointer by senior G Sean Vreeburg that Chapman was able to build a double figure lead at 23-11. La Sierra junior G Miles Robbins hit a three-pointer to cut the deficit back under 10 points which would be as close as they would get as Chapman extended its lead to 44-26 at halftime.

Chapman (13-2) shot just 31 percent from the field in the second half but still managed to build a 26-point lead en route to the victory. The Panthers had a balanced scoring attack with four players finishing in double-figures. Junior C Jared Kaiser finished with a game-high 16 points and seven rebounds and sophomore F Justin Riley added a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Junior G Dan Aguilar (11) and sophomore G Griffin Ramme (10) also finished in double-figures.

La Sierra (1-17) was led by Robbins and senior G Joshua Crouch who had 13 and 10 points, respectively.

The Panthers' 10-game winning streak matches last season's longest streak. Chapman won the final 13 games of the 2006-07 season and extended it to 14 in the 2007-08 opener.
