Haslam recognized as National Rookie of the Year

ORANGE, Calif. – Freshman Cam Haslam gained national recognition on Saturday as he was named the National Rookie of the Year by D3hoops.com. Haslam is the first Panther to earn the prestigious honor in school history.

Haslam's stellar freshman season has been recognized on multiple levels, following a trip to the NCAA Tournament. The guard from Seattle was named the SCIAC Athlete of the Year and earned All-District First Team honors from the National Basketball Coaches Association. D3hoops previously recognized Haslam on its All-West Region Second Team.

The guard from Seattle, Wash. led all Division III freshman with 19.5 points per game this season. As of the end of his season, Haslam ranked sixth in scoring among freshman from all three divisions in the NCAA.

The Panthers won the SCIAC regular season title by three games before winning the SCIAC Tournament and making an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Haslam was one of three underclassmen starters and one of four who will return in 2016-17.
