White honored as SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week

ORANGE, Calif. – After helping limit two opponents to 40 points or less last week, junior Chandler White was selected as the SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week.

White averaged nine rebounds per game last week with eight of the nine coming on the defensive end. He also had a steal and a block to add to the Panthers' stout defensive effort. On the other end of the floor, the junior from Trabuco Canyon, Calif., led the Panthers with 12.5 points per game.

The Panthers limited Me.-Presque Isle to 40 points and Dallas to 39 points in a pair of wins. Both teams came into the Hutton Center averaging well over 80 points on the young season but combined to shoot just 28 percent from the floor. Despite the low shooting percentage, the teams combined for just eight offensive rebounds per game and turned the ball over 15.5 times per game.

The Panthers host La Sierra on Saturday at 7 p.m. – the first of three home games in Decemeber.
