Chapman athletes recognized on SCIAC All-Academic teams

Chapman University student-athletes were well-represented during the 2013-14 academic year as the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference named its All-Academic teams by sport. Leading the way for the Panthers was women’s soccer, which garnered a conference-best 14 honorees.

Chapman University celebrated another banner year in athletics with its annual Jog-a-thon and Sports Appreciation Day at Wilson Field on Friday afternoon. Besides celebrating the school’s first-ever SCIAC championship (women’s basketball) and another SCIAC Tournament title (men’s basketball), the Panthers recognized four seniors with the Department of Athletics annual awards.
Men's golf places fifth at SCIAC Championships

The Chapman University men’s golf team placed fifth in the eight-team SCIAC Men’s Championship at Oak Valley Golf Club in Beaumont this week. The Panthers shot a 964 over three rounds Sunday through Tuesday, finishing 61 strokes back of winner Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
No. 28 Chapman takes on tough field at SCIAC Championships

The No. 28-ranked Chapman University men’s golf team will travel to Oak Valley Golf Club for the 2014 SCIAC Championships beginning Sunday and play through Tuesday. The Panthers currently sit in fifth place in the conference standings and are vying for the SCIAC’s automatic qualifier into the NCAA Championships in May.

The Chapman University men’s golf team finished tied for third in the six-team Baldy View Shootout on Saturday at Upland Hills Golf Course, posting a final score of 299 and finishing 20 strokes behind tournament winner and Division III’s No. 8 University of La Verne.

The Chapman University men’s golf team took fifth place at the second SCIAC Tournament of the season on Saturday and Sunday at Empire Lakes Golf Course. The Panthers earned a two-round score of 613 and finished 11 strokes behind Division III No. 1 and fourth-place University of Redlands.

The No. 24 Chapman University men’s golf team finished ninth in the 18-team West Cup March 24-25 at the Bear Creek Golf Club. The Panthers were led by freshman Bryan Wise and senior Josh Hurst, who each finished in the top 15 in three rounds of scoring.

The Chapman University men’s golf team finished fourth in the 12-team three-round The Masters College Spring Invitational March 3-4 at Robinson Ranch. Senior Rohan Bahri led the Panthers individually finishing tied for third overall in the tournament.

LA VERNE, Calif. – The Chapman University men’s golf team finished fifth in last weekend’s two-round SCIAC No. 1 tournament at Sierra Lakes Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday. Chapman finished 37 strokes back of tournament-winning Redlands, as the Panthers ended the weekend with a total score of 597 on the par-72 course.
Rookie golfer leads Chapman to first-place tie

The Chapman University men’s golf team made an auspicious debut to the 2014 season on Monday afternoon, earning a tie for first place at the SCIAC Preview Tournament at Sierra La Verne Golf Course. Led by freshman Bryan Wise’s 3-under par 67, the Panthers shot a four-man total of 293 to tie them with the University of La Verne for the lead in the first event of the year.
Lao leads new-look golf team into conference play

Newly-appointed head coach Ming Lao will showcase a new-look Chapman University men’s golf team in the season-opening SCIAC Preview tournament on Monday at La Sierra Ranch. The Panthers’ nine-man roster, which features five newcomers, hopes to make a lasting impression on their conference foes prior to the SCIAC #1 tournament set to tee off on Saturday.
