Wise earns second place at Tierra Rejada

MOORPARK, Calif. – The Chapman University men's golf team had its final tune up before opening SCIAC play this weekend as the Panthers played Tierra Rejada Golf Course in Moorpark on Wednesday. Sophomore Bryan Wise led the Panthers with a team low round of 75 (+3), while Cal Lutheran University's Andrew McLean led all players with a one-over-par 73.

Senior Giovanni Chiappano and junior Nickolas Gates were also among Chapman's top scorers in the event. Chiappano (77, +5) shot just one stroke off from his previous round (76) at Tustin Ranch last week, but four strokes better than his previous outing at Tierra Rejada last season when he shot an 81. Gates, who was the Panthers' low score last spring on this course with a 78, shot a 79 (+7) to round out the team's top-three.

The first SCIAC Tournament of the season takes place Saturday and Sunday at Robinson Ranch, featuring three of the top-20 ranked golf programs in Division III: No. 7 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, No. 10 Redlands and No. 20 La Verne.
