Tso first SCIAC Medalist for Chapman

ANAHEIM HILLS, Calif. – Freshman Griffin Tso led the Chapman University men's golf team to a fifth place finish at SCIAC No. 2 at the Anaheim Hills Golf Course on Saturday and Sunday. Tso finished tied for medalist becoming the first Chapman Panther to ever win a SCIAC event.

Tso led the Panthers from day one, shooting a 74 (+4) on day one. The freshman then had a monster day in round two, improving to 67 (-3) to tie for first place with La Verne's Alec Spencer with a final score of 141 (+1) overall.

Junior Bryan Wise finished six strokes behind Tso, tied for eighth place with a final score of 147 (+7). The junior shot a 72 (+2) on day one and a 75 (+5) on day two.

Senior Nickolas Gates finished just two strokes behind Wise at 149 (+9) with consistent appearances on day one and day two. Gates shot a 74 (+4) on day one and fell narrowly to 75 (+5) on day two.

Freshman Dallas Haun and junior Chuck Pedone tied for 34th overall with Chapman's fourth best score at 154 (+14).  Freshman Zach Gellens finished at Chapman's fifth best with a 158 (+18).

The Panthers shot 593 overall, finishing just 10 strokes back from first-place Cal Lutheran.

Chapman will play one last Tri-Match with Cal Lutheran and Whitter on Wednesday, April 13 before competing in the SCIAC Conference Championships beginning on Saturday, April 23 at Oak Valley, Beaumont.
