Tso named SCIAC Male Athlete of the Week

Freshman golfer Griffin Tso made Chapman history last weekend and was rewarded with SCIAC Male Athlete of the Week honors. He fired a 3-under 67 on Sunday to climb into a tie for medalist at the SCIAC #2 Tournament. The freshman finished 1-over par in the tournament to become Chapman's first-ever medalist at a SCIAC event. He owns Chapman's second-lowest average at just below 77.3 strokes per round.

Over the two day tournament, Tso led the Panthers in par 4 scoring. The San Diego native also led the SCIAC challengers with seven birdies and ranked among the top-10 with 22 pars.

In his freshman season, Tso has shown tremendous improvement from the time when he competed in SCIAC No. 1 match in which he shot a 92 (+20) at Tukwet Canyon in Beaumont, Calif. His Sunday round of three under par was his second subpar round of the season. It was also the lowest round of the year for any Panther.

The Panthers host one more tri-match on Wednesday with Whittier and Cal Lutheran before heading to the SCIAC Championships on April 23-25.
