Men's golf wraps up fall season with win over Whittier

Tustin, Calif. – The Chapman University men's golf team wrapped up its fall season at Tustin Ranch Golf Club in a dual with Whittier College. The Panthers edged the Poets by 11 strokes, defeating Whittier in the match 304 (+16) to 325 (+37).

Senior Bryan Wise and sophomore Dallas Haun finished No. 1 and No. 2 in the field to carry the Panthers to the victory. Captain Wise hit a season-low 69 (-3) and Haun carded a 77 (+5) in his first outing of the season.

For the third time this season senior Chuck Pedone shot a sub 80 round to card a 79 (+7). Pedone's score earned him a three-way tie in fourth with Whittier's Alex Valadez and Chapman sophomore Zachary Gellens.

Rookie Brent Bjorndahl carded an 80 (+8) to finish seventh and sophomore Brady Lastinger shot an 82 (+10) to earn eighth in his first fall match.

Prior to Wednesday's competition with Whittier, the Panthers also competed in the Sonoma State Men's Invite at the Foxtail Golf Club finishing 10th overall.

Wise led the Panthers in the two-day competition recording par on day one of competition earning a final three-round of 233 (+17). The senior recorded nine birdies and earned a 4.75 average on par-5 scoring.

Sophomore Griffin Tso finished 48th overall with a final score of 237 (+21), earning a low-round score of 72 on the second day of competition. Tso hit one eagle in the competition and led the Panthers in par-3 scoring with 3.17.

Chapman will return to the greens in spring for their Championship season, with its first day of competition beginning in February.
