Wise in eighth, Panthers in sixth after first round of SCIAC Championship

CHINO HILLS, Calif. – Senior Bryan Wise went two-over par to lead the Chapman University men's golf team in the first round of the SCIAC Championship on Sunday. The Panthers are tied for sixth as a team after shooting a 313 (+25).

Wise is tied for eighth after the first of three rounds at the SCIAC Championship, carding a 74. He is four shots back of the leader – La Verne's Alec Spencer. Spencer was the only player to shoot under par and went two-under.

Bothe senior Chuck Pedone and sophomore Griffin Tso shot a 79 (+7) and are tied for 29th on the player leaderboard. Junior Kyle John's nine-over 81 rounded the Panthers scoring.

Chapman is tied with Pomona-Pitzer for sixth place. Both are 18 strokes back of La Verne, who leads the pack after carding a team score of 295 (+7). The tournament continues with tomorrow's second round and concludes on Tuesday.
