Men's golf in eighth after second round of SCIAC Championship

CHINO HILLS, Calif. – The Chapman University men's golf team improved its team score but fell to eighth on day two of the SCIAC Championship at Los Serranos Country Club. The Panthers have a two-day score of 621 (+45).

Chapman was 20-over par as a team with a 308 on day two, shaving off five strokes as a team. The Panthers weren't the only team to improve as most of the field also shaved strokes off their team scores.

Sophomore Griffin Tso had the Panthers best round, shooting a 75 (+3) – four strokes better than his first round. Tso birdied a pair of holes and parred 12 holes to move up to 25th on the leaderboard with a 154 (+10). Senior Bryan Wise added three strokes but remained the highest Panther on the leaderboard in 14th.

Wise shot a five-over 77 in the second round to card a two-round score of 151 (+7). Senior Chuck Pedone fired a 77 as well to take two strokes off of his first round. His 156 (+12) places him in 32nd heading into the final round. Sophomore Brent Bjorndahl rounded out the team scoring with a 79 (+7).

The Panthers are just two strokes back of Whittier in seventh and 11 strokes back of Pomona-Pitzer in sixth with the final round of the season left tomorrow.
