Men's golf takes seventh, Wise finishes in top-10 at SCIAC Championship

CHINO HILLS, Calif. – The Chapman University men's golf team jumped back up to seventh and senior Bryan Wise leaped back into the top-10 on the final day of the SCIAC Championship at Los Serranos County Club. The Panthers had their best day of the tournament on the last day to overtake Whittier for seventh.

Four Panthers shot under 80 to fuel Chapman's lowest team output of the three-round event. Chapman shot a 12-over 300 as a team and finished with a three round score of 921 (+57). Chapman's third round score took eight strokes off its second round score and was 13 strokes better than the Panthers opening score.

Wise led the Panthers charge with a subpar round to vault into the top-10 individually. Wise fired a one-under 71 in the final round to jump up five spots to ninth with a three-round score of 222 (+6). He started the day with a birdie and parred 15 holes. He birdied again on the 13th and made just one bogey.

Sophomore Griffin Tso was four-over for the day to stay in 25th individually. He ended the tournament with a 230 (+14). Senior Chuck Pedone ended his career with one of his best rounds of the season. He was just four-over with a 76 in the final round to move up four spots to 28th with a 232 (+16)

Freshman Brent Bjorndahl also had his best round of the tournament on the last day with a 5-over 77 to take 41st overall.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps took the team title, finishing seven-over as a team with an 871. Two golfers finished at even par for the tournament – Cal Lutheran's Nate Gray and CMS' Jonathan Shaw.

The Panthers season wrapped up with the final round of the SCIAC Championship. Chapman finished seventh in the team standings, which combine the seven rounds of all three SCIAC tournaments.
