Men’s golf takes fifth in first SCIAC match

ORANGE, Calif. - The Chapman University men's golf team finished in fifth place in their first SCIAC match of the season, shooting 603 (+27) overall. On day one, the Panthers scored 309 (+21) and then followed with a score of 294 (+6) on day two, shaving off 15 strokes as a team.

The top-place finisher for Chapman, sophomore Avery Keating, tied for 16th place with an overall score of 149 (+5). Keating shot 71 (-1) on the second day of the meet after shooting a 78 (+6) on day one. Following Keating was sophomore Brody Hval, who tied for 23rd place with an overall score of 151 (+7).  

Senior Dallas Haun placed 27th with an overall score of 153 (+9) and shaved off seven strokes on the second day to score a 73 (+1).  Senior Griffin Tso also shot a 73 (+1) in the second round, finishing in a three-way tie for 28th place with an overall score of 154 (+10).

Senior Zach Gellens tied for 33rd with an overall score of 157 (+13) and junior Ricky Hoefert tied for 38th place with an overall score of 158 (+14). 

The Panthers take a couple of weeks off before heading to Tustin Ranch Golf Club on Wednesday, March 13 to compete in a tri-match against Cal Lutheran and Vanguard University.
