Hval rises to second at SCIAC Championship

CHINO HILLS, Calif. – For the second consecutive day, every golfer on the Chapman University men's golf team finished the round under 80 strokes at the SCIAC Championship. Senior Brody Hval jumped into a tie for second place on the leaderboard with the Panthers in second as a team as well.

Hval was one of three Chapman players to shoot a five-over 77 in the second round. He jumped from fourth into a tie for second and trails the leader by four strokes. Freshman Charlie Shumway and senior Jack Clendening matched Hval's second round card and are one and two strokes back of Chapman's leader on the leaderboard.

Joaquin Cortes, Logan Kenly and Joseph Cenni all shot a seven-over 79. Cortes is the fourth Panther in the top-10 on the individual leaderboard, sitting in a tie for ninth.

As a team, the Panthers shot a 310 (+22) in the second round. They trail Redlands by just six strokes heading into the final round. They also picked up six more strokes on Cal Lutheran and lead the Kingsmen by 12going into the final 18 holes.
