Shutout puts Panthers back in win column

ORANGE, Calif. - On the heels of just its second loss of the season, the Chapman University men's soccer team rebounded Monday night with a 1-0 win over visiting California Lutheran University at Wilson Field. The Panthers remain unbeaten in NCAA Division III play at 6-0

The Chapman (7-2) lone goal of the game came in the 22nd minute when junior F Matt Prouty scored from the right side off of an assist from fellow junior F Dean Sewitz. For Prouty, it was his second goal of the season and the first assist for Sewitz.

The pace of the game quickened in the second half with both teams having several opportunities to score but neither team could capitalize as the Panthers escaped with the win. Cal Lutheran (3-4) out-shot Chapman 14-10 for the game. Sophomore GK Jimmy Adranly had three saves while earning his first shutout of the season.

The Panthers and Kingsmen have split their last 10 meetings dating back to 1998. Prior to Monday night's victory, Chapman had dropped three straight in the matchup.
