St. Olaf break through against Chapman defense

ORANGE, Calif. - It took just over 80 minutes, but visiting St. Olaf finally got the Panthers' defense to crack. The Chapman University men's soccer team lost for just the second time at home this season, a 2-0 defeat at the hands of St. Olaf College at Wilson Field on Saturday evening.

Chapman (9-4), ranked No. 5 in the West Region, entered the game with a defense that has compiled a 0.59 goals-against average and six shutouts this season. The Panthers were on their way to a possible fourth shutout in five games until the Oles broke through with two goals in the final 10 minutes to capture the win.

Junior M Sam Harrington snapped a scoreless tie in the 81st minute, heading a shot past Chapman GK Tyler Hadzinsky off a free kick. Sophomore F Logan Rathjen added an insurance goal less than seven minutes later to give St. Olaf (7-5) a 2-0 lead.

Sophomore GK Alex Kuehl made five saves for St. Olaf to earn his second shutout of the season. Meanwhile, Hadzinsky made six saves in goal for the Panthers. The Oles out-shot Chapman 12-7 in the game.
