OT goal by Prouty gives Chapman 2-1 win

ORANGE, Calif. - Less than 30 seconds into overtime, senior Matt Prouty scored the game-winning goal to give the Chapman University men's soccer team a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over Occidental College on Monday afternoon at Wilson Field.

Prouty's goal, his second of the afternoon, came from the right wing off a corner kick from senior F Dean Sewitz and barely evaded the Occidental goalie as it went off his fingertips into the top right corner of the net.

For the first 84 minutes of the match, the game remained scoreless but with 5:08 remaining, Occidental freshman reserve M Kyle Scoble gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead with his first career goal. The Tigers' lead would be short-lived however as Chapman (2-0) tied the score 1-1 less than 30 seconds later when Prouty connected on a one-timer in front of the goal from senior M Alex Sewitz.

The goal by Scoble ended Chapman's streak of holding opponents scoreless at 425 minutes which dated back to last season. Junior GK Tyler Hadzinsky finished with three saves for Chapman. Occidental junior GK Ian Powell held the Panthers scoreless with two saves in the first half but was replaced at halftime by sophomore GK Andrew Larkin who also tallied two saves.

Occidental (0-2) has now dropped three straight games to the Panthers.
