Shutout gives Panthers a rare home defeat

ORANGE, Calif. - Put simply, when the Panthers score a goal they don't lose. On Monday evening, the Chapman University men's soccer team was unable to find the back of the net while giving up just a first half goal, falling 1-0 to visiting Cal State San Marcos at Wilson Field.

Chapman (10-3-2) lost for just the third time this season - all via shutout. When the Panthers score at least one goal they are 10-0-2.

San Marcos (9-5-1) scored the game's only goal in the 29th minute on its way to the shutout victory. The Cougars' Bradley Seidenglanz netted the goal on a pass from Miguel Jacobo. It was the first goal scored against the Panthers in over three weeks and 330 minutes of play.

Cal State San Marcos out-shot Chapman 18-5 in the game with 10 of those shots coming in the first half against Panthers' junior GK Tyler Hadzinsky. The Chapman keeper turned away six of those shots and has 52 saves this season.

The loss was Chapman's first at home this season and snapped the Panthers' eight-game unbeaten streak (7-0-1) at Wilson Field dating back to last year.
